Be a Voice, Not an Echo
The first half of 2025 has been a period of dynamic growth and impact for YSD. Under the vision of raising an active, resilient, and empowered generation, we have seen young people step forward as leaders and changemakers.
Program Impact at a Glance:
- Dream Makers Programme: 60 youth gained critical skills in life skills, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and digital readiness.
- Digital Empowerment: Over 60 young people trained in digital literacy, from computer basics to professional LinkedIn profiles.
- Active Citizenship: 7 youth-led Active Citizenship Days strengthened community partnerships and inspired grassroots action.
- Environmental Stewardship: A impactful World Environment Day in Athi-River mobilized the community to “End Plastic Pollution.”
Youth in the Spotlight:
This edition features inspiring mentees like Mercy Ndolo, who transformed her culinary passion into a registered business, and Benjamin Uka Kango, who is harnessing mentorship to lead with purpose. Their journeys highlight the power of guidance, peer support, and practical training.
Growing Together:
We are proud to announce a new partnership with Qubit Institute of Technology to bridge the digital divide, and we extend heartfelt gratitude to all our community partners, volunteers, and stakeholders who make this work possible.

July–December 2025
Be a Voice, Not an Echo
The second half of 2025 was a testament to the power of intentional mentorship and community collaboration at YSD. Guided by the principle that “leadership grows where mentorship thrives,” we witnessed young people transform into confident leaders and active change-makers.
Second Half Impact Snapshot:
- Dream Makers Programme: 59 mentees from Cohorts 7 & 8 gained vital soft skills, financial literacy, and entrepreneurial knowledge.
- Digital Empowerment: Over 109 youths acquired essential digital literacy skills through our strengthened partnership with Qubit Institute of Technology.
- Active Citizenship: 26 hands-on ACDs engaged 194 participants in practical skills like soap-making, baking, and eco-crafts, fostering entrepreneurship.
- Major Events: Successfully hosted International Youth Day (476 attendees) and Youth Skills & Fun Day, centered on empowerment and talent.
Stories of Growth & Reach:
This edition shines a light on Sharon Jelimo (Cohort 4), who leveraged YSD mentorship to win a scholarship for her Master’s in the UK, and Volunteer Mentor Henry Muema, whose 8-year dedication embodies our core belief in mentorship. Their stories highlight how support and opportunity can catalyze local and global impact.
A Collaborative Spirit:
Our growth is fueled by deep community ties. We extend sincere gratitude to all our partners, volunteers, and the young people who continue to step forward with courage and vision.
